Placements at the school are determined by the Children's Services Department (SEN) in consultation with parents. This follows educational, medical and psychological assessments and discussion at the Local Assessment and Placement Advisory Group.
All children who enter Riverside Community Special School will have a Statement of Special Educational Needs/Education Health and Care Plan. The plan is reviewed annually through the Annual Review in which parents are fully involved.
The school caters for children experiencing a complex range of needs associated with learning difficulties and children with Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASCs) in the greater Havant area including Waterlooville, Emsworth and Hayling Island. Applications for the admission of children who live outside the 'catchment area' of school will be considered, subject to the availability of places, transport decisions, etc by the Local Authority.
We hope that your child will be happy and successful at Riverside School, and that you will enjoy being one of our parents.
