The school encourages good attendance and expects the children to be in school on time. It is important for the children's learning that they are in school as much as possible. Usually, they should only be away if they are ill.
The school governors have to report each year on how many children are absent and why they were absent. We have to keep the number of absences as low as possible.
The children can be away for the following reasons:
when they are unwell.
to visit the doctor, dentist, hospital, etc.
when parents have made a request to the Headteacher.
Children are not allowed to be off school for:
buying new clothes.
looking after younger children or other members of the family
going shopping, have a haircut, oversleeping or getting up late.
because it is their birthday.
If your child is ill:
please let the school know on the morning of the first day they are away. You can phone the school, send a note or tell the bus bus/taxi escort.
if we do not hear from you the school office staff will contact you by phone.
if you do not let us know why your child has been away, the school office will automatically send you a letter to fill in and return to school.
If you have any worries about your child's school attendance, or your child does not seem happy about coming to school, please get in touch straight away.
